Umsjatka Studio is een initiatief van Ram van Meel, Wencke van Amstel en Jasper Groen. Het is een bijzonder praktische, ruime en vooral prettige (huur)studio met fotografische, artdirectionele, produktionele en technische faciliteiten.Ram van Meel behaalde in 1994 zijn Vakdiploma Fotografie (VIZO) in Hasselt. In 1995 werkte hij voor Fotopersbureau Paul Mellaart. In 1996 werkte hij als freelance fotograaf voor Dagblad de Limburger, Limburgs Symfonie Orkest, Universiteit Maastricht, Toneelacademie en Akademie voor de Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht. In 2005 vervolgde hij zijn freelance loopbaan in Amsterdam en werkte o.a. voor FHV/BBDO, Inc 21, Brand Buzz, Elsevier Magazines, TBWA/Neboko, VBAT en XAGA. In 2006 richtte hij Umsjatka Studio op.Wencke van Amstel studeerde in 1995 af aan de Akademie vd Beeldende Kunsten te Maastricht als beeldend kunstenaar. In 2000 studeerde zij af als cognitief psycholoog aan de Universiteit van Maastricht. Na beeindiging van haar afstudeeronderzoek bij FHV/BBDO (Strategie Afd.) begon zij daar te werken als art director. Na het winnen van diverse prijzen kwam zij in het bestuur van Jonge Honden. Van 2004 tot 2006 was zij senior art director bij TBWA/Neboko, waarna zij begon te werken als freelance art director op verschillende (inter)nationale projecten. In 2006 richtte zij Umsjatka Studio en Pink and Poodle op (pinkandpoodle.com). Jasper Groen deed in 1997 de School voor Journalistiek te Utrecht. In 2003 werd hij (jongeren) verslaggever voor Dagblad De Limburger (stadsredactie) en Limburgs Dagblad. Daarnaast realiseerde hij een expositie voor de jonge Afrikaanse fotograaf Julius. In 2004 ging hij werken als freelance journalist (De Volkskrant, KRO-Radio1) en freelance fotograaf (Carp, Nieuwe Revu, Vrij Nederland). In 2006 werd hij assistent fotograaf voor Erwin Olaf, Exposeerde hij in FOAM met het project Jeffrey en werd hij medeoprichter van Umsjatka Studio. Umsjatka Studio is een praktische ruime, maar vooral prettige studio, gelegen op de begane grond. Totale oppervlakte: 300 meter, met 160 m2 vrije studioruimte. Verder beschikt de studio over een garage- dan wel werkruimte van 65 m2 en een kantoor-zitgedeelte van 65 m2. De studio is gelegen in de Spaarndammerbuurt temidden van supermarkten, slagers en bakkers, een postkantoor, een kluswinkel en vele andere voor producties handige winkels. Umsjatka is goed bereikbaar vanaf de Ring en met het openbaar vervoer. Het Amsterdamse centrum ligt op 10 minuten lopen. Parkeren van twee auto’s is mogelijk in het pand zelf. Umsjatka Studio is an iniative of Ram van Meel, Wencke van Amstel and Jasper Groen. Umsjatka is a very practical, spacious, but above all pleasant studio with photographic, art directional, productional and technical facilities. Ram van Meel got his Certificate of Proficiency Photography (VIZO) in 1994 in Hasselt (Belgium). After that he started to work at Photo Press Agency Paul Mellaart. In 1996 he started to work as a freelance press photographer for Dagblad de Limburger, the Symphonic Orchestra of Limburg, University of Maastricht, the Maastricht Theatre Academy and Academy of Modern Arts. In 2005 he continued his freelance career in Amsterdam, where he worked for FHV/BBDO, Inc 21, Brand Buzz, Elsvier Magazines, TBWA/Neboko, VBAT and XAGA. In 2006 he established Umsjatka Studio. Wencke van Amstel graduated at the Maastricht Academy of Modern Arts as an artist in 1995. In 2000 she graduated as a cognitive psychologist at the University of Maastricht. After winning several prices she became board member of the Dutch Young Dogs Foundation for young creative talent. From 2004 till 2006 she worked as a senior art director for TBWA/Neboko. Jasper Groen did the Utrecht School of Journalism in 1997. In 2003 he became a reporter for Dagblad de Limburger and Limburgs Dagblad. There he specialized in juvenile journalism. He also realized the exhibition of a young African photographer Julius. In 2004 he started to work as a freelance journalist (De Volkskrant and KRO Radio) and photographer (Carp Magazine, Nieuwe Revu and Vrij Nederland.) In 2006 he became assistent photographer at Studio Erwin Olaf and realized an exhibition "Jeffrey" in FOAM. After that he became a co-founder of Umsjatka Studio. Umsjatka is a relaxed, practical and spacious studio, situated on the ground floor. Totall surface: 290 metres, with 160 m2 studiofloor, a parking and working space of 65 m2 and an office/lounge of 65m2. The studio can be easily reached from the ring road and by public transport, and it has a supermarket and a postoffice as neighbours. The centre of Amsterdam is only a ten minutes walk.
